Nairobi, Kenya – The Kenyan government’s response to terrorism may have made the problem worse, new research shows. Many Muslim youths joined extremist groups as a reaction to the Kenyan government’s collective punishment or assassination of religious leaders, says senior researcher Dr Anneli Botha from the authoritative Institute for Security Studies (ISS).
‘It is clear from the research that strategies based on mass arrests and racial profiling are counterproductive and may drive individuals to extremism,’ Botha says. ‘Unless government changes its approach, there is a real risk it will inspire a new cycle of radicalisation and violence.’

Berkoh 25, charged with indecent assault pleaded not guilty.
The court presided over by Ms Sedina Agbemava however found him guilty and convicted him accordingly.
Berkoh who was taken aback by the judgement wept saying “I know nothing about the matter”. His mother who could not stand the shock got out of the court amidst talking to herself.
According to the court prosecution after calling five witnesses a case against Berkoh was established.
The court noted that medical report also confirmed that the victim after going through the ordeal appeared traumatised.
According to the court although Berkoh denied the offence and also knowing the victim in the neighbourhood, it was found that he was lying.

Bayern Munich are lining up a bid of around £30million for Ozil, who joined Arsenal from Real Madrid last summer for a club record £42.5m.
The football grapevine understands the Germany star has grown increasingly unhappy at Arsenal, not least because he is not being played in his preferred forward floating role by Arsene Wenger.
Ozil returned to Germany last week only to discover what was thought a minor knee injury could in fact rule him out for up the three months.
It might even mean he has played his last game for the Gunners.
